Your DSO is more than likely incredible when it comes to your admin and clinical teams. You are an expert and leader in dentistry, but are you an expert in people? Do you have protocols and systems in place to systematically foster healthy, happy team members who want to stay for the long term? A growth mindset is the belief that people should never stop learning. A fixed mindset is the belief that talent is innate – you’re born a certain way, work with what you’re given and you don’t have an ability to change. 

Having a growth mindset is crucial if you want your DSO to keep turnover rates down and create a positive work environment where staff want to stay.  There are a number of major organizations that are successfully adopting programs and systems to foster a growth mindset culture such as: GE, Bloomberg, P&G, and Apple. The growth mindset is a philosophy born out of research by Dr. Dweck, a world-renowned psychologist with a passion for understanding how people cope with failure.

  • 34% likelier to feel a strong sense of ownership and commitment to the company.
  • 65% likelier to say that the company supports risk taking.
